What To Expect
Your driver and guide will pick you up at the airport and show you where to exchange dollars to Cuban CUC’s. Start this Havana city tour with a panoramic view of Plaza de la Revolucion, Vedado, and Malecon. Next, savor lunch at oceanfront Castropol Restaurant (not included). Then, your Bed & Breakfast will be ready for check in. Indeed, a great way to support private enterprises in Cuba. After taking a rest, visit the heart of Old Havana. First, walk Parque Central. Then, Gran Teatro de la Habana and Capitolio. Last, stroll Paseo Prado towards the Habana Malecon, where you may connect with artists, musicians and vendors. A favorite of many visitors, the Havana city tour starts with a visit to a Cuban family in Barrio Lawton. First, Magaly and Lazaro will treat you to Cuban coffee and a chat about their daily lives. Then, explore the neighborhood and a local market. Suggest lunch in Barrio Lawton at La Fuente Restaurant (not included).
Stroll Old Havana’s colonial plazas starting with the Cathedral Plaza. Stop by one of Hemingway’s favorite, La Bodeguita del Medio. Continue to Plaza de Armas and Plaza San Francisco de Asis and take in the beautiful architecture of the domed Lonja del Comercio. Finish the tour by visiting Plaza Vieja. Around the square, there are a number of art galleries, shops and restaurants. You might enjoy dinner or a drink at Azucar Restaurant (second floor).
Morning starts with a tour of majestic Capitol building. Tours are available at 10 am or 11 am. Then, drive to the lively Obispo Boulevard and enjoy lunch at Hemingway’s favorite, El Floridita (not included). Connect with local musicians and artists at bars and art galleries. Finally, stop at the Museum of Rum, a journey back to the origins of Cuba’s famous Havana Club. Next, visit Almacenes San Jose for the best selection of souvenirs, art and crafts. This is an excellent opportunity to connect with local vendors! Next, driver will drive you back to lodging. We’ll take a drive to San Francisco de Paula for a tour of Finca Vigia, Hemingway’s country home in the 1940’s. He wrote some of his famous work at this home. Afterwards, we’ll take an excursion to the fishing town of Cojimar, the idyllic location that inspired his famous novel “The Old Man and the Sea.” Suggest lunch at typical Cuban El Ajiaco Restaurant. Drive back to the hotel, where you can stop by the Hall of Fame bar, enjoy the terrace and a drink. The Cabaret Parisien dinner and show is an excellent option this evening (additional service).
