Jazz Festival of Havana 2019
If I could reincarnate, I would love to be a piano – Chucho Valdés
Jazz is with no doubt, a turning point for music lovers. A taste only a few would acquire because only a few would learn to listen. Jazz is complex, jazz is simple, jazz is life in its purest way, a gathering of diversity and culture in one genre.
Listening to jazz is a perfect way to understand a culture, and there’s no better way to experience Cuba than listening to the real jazz of Cuba, the one that lives up on the street music, on a guitar missing a string and a young man always willing to sing. It’s this desire and willingness to make music what makes Cuban jazz so unique.
If you want to experience the real essence of Cuban jazz you cannot afford to miss the Jazz Festival of Havana in 2019. Organized by Chucho Valdés, son of the legendary musician Bebo Valdés, and sponsored by the Cuban Institute of Music (ICM). The festival will take place in different locations throughout Havana such as the Amadeo Roldan theatre, the Mella Theatre, or La Casa de la Cultura of Plaza. The event will run from January 13 until January 21, 2019.
Past festivals welcomed renowned artists such as Charlie Haden, Carmen McCrae, Hugh Fraser, Michel Legrand, Ronnie Scott, Kash Killion, Luis Monge, and Daniel Martina.
